Theo Fitanides Joins Native Here Nursery Team
In his first day as the new manager Theo, a 2010 graduate from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in Biological Sciences, walked through the nursery with Charli, Lesley, Janice, Steve and other volunteers reminiscing about his volunteer time potting plants, watering and seed collecting.
In his new position, Theo will continue working with our volunteers to propagate local native plants for retail customers, restoration efforts, public agencies and annual plant sales and events. Theo also has hopes of having the nursery foster greater community involvement in local habitat restoration.
Theo will be the speaker at the Plant Fair on Sunday October 13, 2013 at Noon. His talk will be “Bird Songs in the Native Garden.” This will be a great opportunity to come to the Plant Fair and meet Theo!
Volunteers Needed - The nursery is operated almost entirely by volunteers. At present it is open for volunteer training and sales to the public on Tuesdays noon to 3 pm, Friday mornings 9 am to noon and on Saturdays 10 am to 2 pm. Rain or strong winds close the nursery.
There is a wide range of volunteer tasks
• handling sales,
• loading plants for customers,
• striking cuttings,

• filing papers,
• entering nursery records,
• writing Bay Leaf notices,
