Saturday, February 10, 2024 — 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
From Friends of Sausal Creek (FOSC)
Join FOSC on a walk along the Oakland Estuary, as we watch the King Tides flow from the Fruitvale Bridge toward the San Leandro Bay. Local historian Dennis Evanosky will lead a speaking tour of the area’s history along the way.
Learn about the San Francisco & Alameda Railroad and industries that included a rope factory with its ropewalk and a fuse factory, the site of a deadly explosion. See how the tidal canal was dug and learn the fascinating plans for this waterway that never materialized.
Habitat Restoration Engineer Eleanor Clark from Environmental Science Associates will speak about the King Tides phenomenon, sea level rise, and her field experience in coastal environments around the Bay.
RSVP here. Hope to see you out there!
FOSC Teeshirts are still available, while supplies last. Support and rep your watershed with a donation of $75 for adult sizes and $35 for youth sizes. Just make your donation then fill out the tee order form.
