In December, CNPS East Bay Chapter members voted on chapter officers and on revised chapter bylaws. Most members could vote online, using software provided by SimplyVoting.com, an online voting system. Other members, whose email addresses we do not have or who said they preferred not to receive any emails, were sent paper ballots and could vote by mail.
In total, 183 members cast votes (110 online and 73 by mail). All nominated officers were elected and the revised bylaws were passed. There were no votes for any write-in candidate (write-ins were permitted both on the paper ballot and on the online ballot). There were some abstentions, but no more than seven for any candidate. There were 175 votes in favor of approving the bylaws, two votes against, and six abstentions.
The officers for 2022 are:
Sally de Becker, President
Cynthia Adkisson, Vice President
David Margolies, Treasurer
Robin Mitchell, Recording Secretary
Jane Francis, Corresponding Secretary
The approved bylaws are posted on our CNPS East Bay Chapter website.
Online voting is significantly cheaper, both in time and money, than paper voting, and it’s more friendly to the environment. If you received a paper ballot, that means you either have not given your email address to CNPS or you have requested not to be contacted by email. If you wish to update your membership profile with your email address, contact Barbara Lezon at the state CNPS office (blezon@cnps.org). If you generally do not want to receive emails but are willing to receive an online ballot once a year, please send a message stating your preference to me, David Margolies, at treasurer@ebcnps.org.
