As an all-volunteer organization, Native Here depends on our community to step forward and help run the nursery. We are looking for volunteers with some traditional skills as well as volunteers with more specialized experience to help with tasks at the nursery or with a couple of jobs that can be done partially from home.
Here’s the list of jobs in need of volunteers; click on the linked job title to read a detailed description.
A new project: specimen plant repotting and root pruning
We have up to 150 specimen plants in the nursery, many of which have been with us for years in the same pots. They need to be repotted, and many will need root pruning. We’re looking for volunteers to repot our specimen plants. And if you have expertise in the special skill of root pruning, we hope you’ll share your knowledge with us!
Two opportunities to work from home
Sign maker: replacing descriptive signs throughout the nursery
Label washer: cleaning price tag labels for reuse
An ongoing special project: raising our plant tables
We need to raise our plants above the rain-splash zone to protect them from waterborne diseases like Sudden Oak Death.
And some more traditional nursery tasks
Plant wranglers: moving potted plants around the nursery
Soil wranglers: sterilizing soil and empty plant containers
Plant groomers: helping plants look their best
Weeders: keeping weeds at bay in the nursery
