November Field Trip and Restoration Activities

A fall tableau at Huckleberry Botanic Regional Preserve: huckleberry branches poke through deciduous bracken ferns turning yellow. Painting by Janet Gawthrop.

Join volunteers with our CNPS East Bay Chapter and like-minded organizations in November for fun and rewarding restoration activities and a Buy Nothing Day field trip that’s way better than shopping.

Field Trip

Buy Nothing Day at Radke Martinez Regional Shoreline, Martinez
November 25, Friday, 10 am–12 pm
Join Janet Gawthrop not buying anything on the day after Thanksgiving. We will be checking out water-loving plants at Radke Martinez Regional Shoreline. This is a delightful park with many opportunities for birdwatching as well as plant-watching. Sign up on our Meetup page and then meet us in the first parking lot as you enter from Ferry Street, by the picnic tables. For more information, contact Janet Gawthrop at janetgawthrop47@gmail.com.

Restoration

Garber Park, Oakland
November 19, Saturday, 9 am–12 pm
Garber Park Stewards continues its Saturday restoration activities twice a month above the Claremont Hotel in northernmost Oakland. For more information, visit the Garber Park Stewards website or contact garberparkstewards@gmail.com.

Huckleberry Botanic Regional Preserve, Oakland
November 20, Sunday, 9:30 am
Meet us at the main parking lot for the preserve on Skyline Blvd just south of Elverton Drive in the Oakland Hills. We will decide the work site for the day depending on weather and soil. For more information, contact Janet Gawthrop at janetgawthrop47@gmail.com.

Albany Hill (north side), Albany
November 26, Saturday, 9 am
Volunteers continue to manage the north side of Albany Hill for its remaining biodiversity. Email tashorehill@gmail.com for the site to be worked in November.
